He climbed into an approximately 60 feet high water tank run by the Municipal Corporation in the area adjacent to the Forty Quarter of Ward No. 6 of Puruliya city. After about five hours of efforts, the young man was rescued due to the initiative of a local journalist. According to police sources, the young man, resident of a village under Tamana police station, was involved in a relationship with a young woman for a long time. Recently that relationship broke and he became mentally broken and sat in a water tank with the intention of committing suicide. After receiving the news of the incident, police, fire brigade and disaster response team reached the spot. But the young man refused to come down, demanding that his girlfriend come to the spot. In this situation, local journalist Asif Ansari took the initiative to talk to the young man's family. He tried to calm the young man down by speaking to him on the phone several times. Then, taking his own risk, he climbed into the water tank and spoke directly to the young man to convince him to come down. The youth is then brought to safety with the help of the disaster response team. The police rescue him and take him to the police station. After the incident, the young man's family expressed gratitude towards the journalist. His courage has been praised by local residents and administration.
