General women in Durgapur are delighted to receive the benefits of the state government's pro-people social security scheme, 'Annapurna Yojana'. To express deep gratitude and thanks to the Chief Minister of the state, Suvendu Adhikari, a massive and festive procession was organized in the City Center area of Durgapur. Hundreds of ordinary women from the area spontaneously participated in this procession held under the special initiative of 'Manobik Mancha'.
This colorful procession began on Sunday from in front of the Srijani Auditorium in the heart of Durgapur's City Center. Carrying colorful placards, banners, and festoons containing messages of the success of various welfare schemes of the government, the long procession of women paraded through several main roads of the City Center. The women at the forefront of the procession had joyful smiles on their faces and chanted slogans of thanks to the Chief Minister. The entire procession concluded at the area adjacent to the City Center bus stand. During the procession, the sound of 'uludhani' (auspicious sounds made by women) and the footsteps of enthusiastic women created great enthusiasm in the entire area.
According to the women participating in the procession, such social schemes of the state government have had a huge impact on their daily lives. As the regular financial assistance of the Annapurna Yojana directly reaches the hands of women, they are able to meet their small needs. This has not only achieved financial self-reliance, but also multiplied the importance and decision-making power of women in the family. They no longer have to depend on others for their minimal needs, which has boosted their confidence.
