In joint initiative of police and central forces, every vehicle is stopped and search operation is conducted. Apart from checking the documents of the vehicle, the identity cards of the passengers are also checked. If anything suspicious is found, the security forces are on alert to take immediate action. According to administration sources, this extra surveillance is to prevent smuggling of illegal weapons, cash or liquor before the elections.
