Nirbheek Bengali, Badudiya | Basirhat Complex: There was an uproar over the allegations of declaring living voters dead in Baduria block of Baduria Assembly. Allegation, a total of 33 people have been shown as dead by filling Form 7 in the name of living voters. In protest against this incident, angry voters staged a protest in front of the Badudiya Block Development Officer (BDO) office on Thursday. The incident occurred in the area of বসীরাট মহকুমার in Chandipur village পনচায়তীর বেনা বের বেনা বুথ (বেনা গির) and অত্ধাড়া village পন্চায়ইটের বেরি বুথ বের 80 numbers of the assembly. According to the complaint, a total of 33 voters from these two booths have been shown as dead through Election Commission form number 7. The protesters allege that this has been done through a well-planned conspiracy by the BJP to take away their voting rights before the upcoming assembly elections. Angry voters claim that despite being alive, efforts are being made to remove his name from the voter list by showing him dead in the papers. Regarding this, Parth Hajra, the editor of Baduria block, said, “Some voters came to me and complained. The matter is being looked into seriously and necessary action will be taken.” On the other hand, Trinamool Congress leader Mehibur Alam alleged, “Ahead of the upcoming 26th Assembly elections, BJP is deliberately planning to eliminate the names of the living voters by making them appear dead through the SIR process. BJP will not succeed in this plan.” He further said that after hearing the names of 33 voters who have emerged in the complaint, a complaint will be filed against the concerned booth president of BJP at Baduria police station. Besides, a demand for strict punishment has been lodged with the Election Commission against those associated with this incident. Political tension has spread in the area around the incident. Demands for quick and strict action by the Election Commission regarding cleanliness of voter list and protection of democratic rights are being raised from various quarters.
