On August 30, 2026, a total of eight talented students from Purulia set off for Siliguri to participate in the 7th West Bengal State Kudo Tournament. Subsequently, on August 31, the 7th State Kudo Tournament was held with great grandeur at the Uttarbanga Marwari Bhavan in Siliguri. Overcoming tough competition from participants across the state, Purulia's Kudo players showcased their extraordinary talent and skill. Competing in various events, they bagged a total of six gold medals and one bronze medal.
Those who won gold medals in this competition are Puja Dey, Bhagyabati Mahato, Satyabati Hembrom, Subhadra Roy, Mangal Das, and Sourav Sen. Additionally, Hiya Paramanik put up a spirited fight to win the bronze medal. From coaches to parents and sports enthusiasts, everyone is overjoyed at this enviable success of Purulia's boys and girls far away in Siliguri.
Balaram Gorai, President, and Dhananjay Kumar, Secretary of the Kudo Mixed Martial Arts Association, Purulia, while sharing the details of this success, said, "Those who have won gold medals in this state-level competition have each earned the opportunity to participate in the national tournament scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad coming November."
