Jamuria's former Trinamool MLA's son arrested from Andal Airport

Nirbhik Bangla, Jamuria, August 13: Prem Pal Singh, son of former Trinamool MLA from Jamuria constituency in West Burdwan district, Hare Ram Singh, and a Trinamool Congress leader, was arrested by Asansol-Durgapur police from Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport in Andal. According to police sources, the arrest took place on Thursday evening. Police claim that Prem Pal Singh was arrested in connection with a case related to illegal sand mining. He will be produced in court on Friday and the police will appeal for his custody. The news of the former MLA's son's arrest has created a stir in the entire industrial belt, including Jamuria. According to police sources, Prem Pal Singh had been untraceable since the announcement of the assembly election results on May 4. Earlier, the police had conducted a raid at his house and office in Jamuria police station and recovered a large quantity of cartridges, police sources claimed. Since then, the Asansol-Durgapur police had been actively searching for him. Police claim that Prem Pal Singh was arrested while trying to leave Andal airport on Thursday. On the other hand, former MLA Hare Ram Singh has also been missing from the area since his defeat in the assembly elections, according to local sources. However, no comment has been received from Prem Pal Singh's side regarding the allegations against him in the illegal sand mining case.
