Nirbheek Bengali, Durgapur, June 4: Gautam Ghosh, regional president of Trinamool Congress of Gogla region, was arrested by the police of Durgāpur-Faridpur police station. Police sources said that he was arrested from Gogla area on Wednesday night. He will be presented in Durgapur Municipal Court on Thursday. According to police sources, this arrest has been made after investigation on the basis of various allegations. But the police did not officially give any details regarding any specific case in which he has been arrested. Meanwhile, after the arrest of Gautam Ghosh, a section of BJP workers-supporters protested in front of Durgapur-Faridpur police station. While taking him out of the police station, the protesters kept raising slogans like 'Chor Chor' and made allegations of corruption against him. The name of Ghotam Ghosh has been raised for a long time in connection with BJP's allegations, illegal sand extraction and dumping from the river, coal business, syndicate rule, touts and political terrorism. The opposition party claims that he had influence on the circles involved in various illegal activities in the area. On the other hand, no response was received from Trinamool Congress regarding these allegations. Gautam Ghosh or his lawyer's statement has not yet surfaced. A vigorous campaign has started in the political circles of Durgapur centering on the incident. Police said, necessary legal process is being followed in the interest of investigation.
