Asansol, West Bengal. A case of assault of a BJP worker allegedly by Trinamool workers during election campaigning in Buda Aghori Pada area of Asansol South police station area has come to light. It is alleged that the BJP worker was locked in a room and beaten brutally. According to BJP woman worker Jayanti Rai, her husband was campaigning through miking in the area and was also hoisting the BJP flag. Meanwhile, some Trinamool workers—Arnav, Deepak and Pradeep—arrived there and stopped them from hoisting the flag. It is alleged that he also threatened not to campaign in favor of BJP. It is being told that meanwhile, local Trinamool councilor Shampa Da called the BJP worker to a room for talks. But it is alleged that as soon as he went into the room for a conversation, the door was closed, his mobile phone was snatched away and he was beaten with kicks and punches. After the incident, BJP leader and candidate from Asansol North Assembly seat Krishnendu Mukherjee has lodged a complaint at Asansol South police station. He has demanded the arrest of the accused as soon as possible. However, no official response has come so far from Trinamool in this matter. The police is investigating the case.
