The 'game' of Suryanagar sand ghat exposed? Alleged businessman disappeared as soon as power changed

Local sources allege that under the patronage of an influential leader of Trinamool Congress, a person named Parimal was running the business of illegally picking up sand for a long time. According to the information, the concerned businessman had set up a depot on the basis of stock license to buy sand and sell it to customers. But it is alleged that instead of purchasing sand from legitimate sources for the depot, sand was extracted illegally directly from the Suryanagar Damodar river ghat. Later, this sand was deposited at the stock point located near the river ghat and sold in the market with the help of invoice from any valid sand ghat in Purulia district. Local people claim that this alleged illegal business continued openly for a long time. They allege that lack of administrative monitoring and action encouraged illegal sand mining and smuggling. However, these allegations could not be independently confirmed. Here, after the change in the political situation, the activities of this alleged network have suddenly stopped. There is silence these days at the river ghat and sand stock point of Suryanagar. There is talk in the area that the businessman concerned has currently gone underground due to fear of possible investigation and action. At present, there has been no official response in this matter from the person concerned or the political leaders who are being accused of giving protection.
