Continuous and torrential rain in the Raniganj and Asansol industrial areas has created a severely waterlogged situation. General people are facing extreme hardship as the Hussain Nagar area under Ward No. 88 of the Raniganj Municipality has gone underwater. Due to the incessant rain, besides the streets of the area becoming waterlogged, water has entered multiple houses and shops, thereby disrupting normal civic life.
According to local sources, children and the elderly are facing the maximum trouble while moving through the waterlogged roads. From essential chores to daily movement—severe disruptions are occurring in every aspect. Locals allege that there is a long-standing problem of water accumulation in the Hussain Nagar area even with slight rainfall. However, as the administration has not provided any permanent solution to this, locals have to spend their days in extreme panic every monsoon season. Observing the pattern of the rain, residents fear that if the rain continues for a few more hours, the water level may rise further and the situation could take a horrific turn. In this situation, demanding the prompt intervention of local MLA Partha Ghosh, angry residents have called for immediate adequate drainage arrangements and a permanent solution to this waterlogging problem.
On the other hand, a similar picture has been captured in the Asansol industrial area as well. According to the news sent by correspondent Shyam Das, due to the continuous rain through the night, the water level of the Garui River in Asansol rose, completely waterlogging the Railpar area. Moreover, due to inadequate and faulty drainage systems, several other low-lying areas of the city have also gone underwater. However, the comforting news is that as the intensity of the rain has reduced somewhat since early morning, the water has started to recede slowly and the situation is moving towards improvement. It is learned that the local administration and municipal authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation.
