.. Assembly elections of 2026 are going to be held in Asansol, West Bengal in a few months. All the political parties of the state have entered the fray with full force for the elections. On one hand, the ruling Trinamool Congress is challenging the BJP by putting forward its various schemes, while on the other hand, the BJP is attacking the government by alleging many alleged scams and corruption including coal, sand, stone, cow, education etc. BJP claims that the people of the state have been deprived of the schemes of the Center and Trinamool has been winning the elections with the help of votes of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Meanwhile, the agitation of Asha workers and sanitation workers has increased the problems of the state government. Asha workers, women and sanitation workers are continuously agitating demanding salary hike, PF, ESI facilities and giving them the status of casual staff. In the election environment, this movement has emerged as a big challenge for the Mamata government. In the recently presented state budget, the salary of Asha workers was increased by about one thousand rupees, but none of the demands of the sanitation workers were fulfilled. The corporation administration says that the financial condition of the corporation is bad and it is not possible to talk about salary hike for the next two years, although other demands can be considered. For the past several days, cleanliness work has come to a standstill in Asansol, due to which heaps of garbage have formed in many areas of the city. People's lives are being affected by the dirt and smell all around. Now opposition parties have also become active regarding this movement. CPM, Congress and BJP have started taking to the streets on this issue. Somewhere the opposition workers are targeting the government by cleaning the garbage accumulated on the roads, while somewhere efforts are being made to get their demands met by gheraoing the Asansol Municipal Corporation. The opposition is also preparing to present this issue as an election weapon, so that public support can be gained.
