Asansol, West Bengal: Chaos broke out during a public meeting organized in support of BJP candidate Arjit Rai in Andhra village area of Barabani assembly, when a mob present on suspicion of pickpocketing caught a young man and beat him fiercely. It is being told that while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was addressing the gathering, some BJP workers present in the crowd accused the youth of pickpocketing and started kicking and punching him. The policemen deployed at the spot immediately intervened and freed the youth from the clutches of the mob and took him with them. BJP supporters claim that earlier also similar incidents of pickpocketing had come to light during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting in Asansol. During that time also many suspects were caught and handed over to the police. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of tension at the meeting place for some time, however, the situation was soon brought under control due to the promptness of the police.
