A year of intimidation and allegations of rape, the accused arrested due to the activism of Shankotoria Ferry Police

Nirbhik Bangla, Durgapur/Kulti: A 27-year-old woman from the Desergarh Masjid Para area of Shanktoriya Phari in Kulti police station has accused 44-year-old Manzur Alam from the same area of forcing her into a physical relationship for a year by intimidating her. According to the complaint, after the change of government, the woman filed a written complaint at Shanktoriya Phari. After receiving the complaint, the police quickly started an investigation and arrested the accused Manzur Alam within just one hour on the evening of July 8. On Wednesday morning, the accused was taken from Shanktoriya Phari to the Asansol court. Although the police requested a seven-day remand for the sake of investigation, the court ordered a four-day police remand. According to police sources, strict action was taken quickly as part of the policy of taking tough action in cases of women's harassment. It is worth mentioning that earlier, the Shanktoriya Phari police had also arrested a CISF jawan accused in a minor girl rape case within a short time of the complaint. Note: A case has been filed based on the complaint and an investigation is underway. The accused will be considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
