Fearless Bengali, Shyam Das, Kulti | June 1st Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate, National Road Authority and Transport Department are going to take special initiatives to prevent increasing road accidents on National Road Highway (NH-19). After identifying the accident prone areas, a plan has been taken to control vehicle speed, develop infrastructure and take various safety measures. On Monday, DCP (Traffic) of Asansole-Durgarhpur Police Commissionerate P.B.G. jointly inspected the Duburdihi check post area along Bengali-Jharkhand border. Satish - including other police officers, representatives of the National Highways Authority and officials of the Motor Vehicles (MVI) Department. After inspection, DCP (Traffic) P.B.G. Shatish said, the traffic police, highway authorities and representatives of the transport department are jointly inspecting various parts of the national highway. Areas where accidents are occurring repeatedly or where there are structural defects will be identified and immediate resolution measures will be taken. On the other hand, National Highway Authority representative Priyanshu Singh said that due to high accident rate, work has been started with special importance in the concerned areas. There are plans to install new signage on the roads, make traffic easier and strengthen security arrangements. He said that this initiative, which will start from the Barakar-Jharadakhand border area, can be gradually expanded to Panagarh district of West Vandahar. During the inspection, detailed discussions were held on several accident prone areas of the National Highway including the Duburdi check post. Necessary recommendations have also been made after finding out what kind of safety measures need to be taken. Administration claims, the main objective of this joint initiative is to significantly reduce the number of accidents on national highways and to create a safer and accident-free road system in the future.
