Nirbheek Bengali, Asansol: While facing the journalists at the district party office of Asansol, he said, before the assembly elections, in the process of voter list revision, the Election Commission of India has simultaneously suspended seven officials and has applied to the State Secretary to take immediate legal action against them. While welcoming this step, he claims that the SIR process is not being conducted properly in the state. He alleged that some AERO, RO, FEO and DM level officials were involved in serious irregularities, dereliction of duty and abuse of legal power. With their help, he claims, names of illegal voters are being included in the voter list based on the documents issued by the state government. According to the MPs, if the SIR process is to be completed properly, it is necessary to implement section 356 of the Constitution of the state. His demand is that it will be possible to revise the voter list in a fair and transparent manner. He also said that BJP's earlier demand was and is still there - the names of all the legal voters of the state should be included in the list and the names of Bangladeshi infiltrators, dead and illegal voters should be immediately removed from the list. He further claimed that at present the names of seven officers have come out, but very soon the names of some more will come out and the Election Commission will also take action against them.
