Asansol, Minister in the Government of West Bengal and BJP MLA from Asansol-Kulti Assembly constituency, Dr. Ajay Poddar has given a big political statement regarding the recent incidents. He alleged that till the afternoon of 4th, some people were roaming around with green gulal, but by the evening the same people had applied saffron gulal. Poddar clearly said that such people are not workers of Bharatiya Janata Party and the party does not support such acts. Dr. Ajay Poddar said, those who were roaming around wearing green gulal in the afternoon of 4th, by the evening they had applied saffron gulal. This is the work of those goons. Bharatiya Janata Party workers do not do this. He said that such people will be identified and action will be taken against them. He made it clear that any kind of hooliganism in the name of BJP worker will not be tolerated.

Giving example of the functioning of the government, the BJP MLA presented the figure of stone royalty in Birbhum. He claimed that whereas earlier the royalty used to be around Rs 80 crore annually, now this figure has increased to around Rs 1200 crore annually. He said that from this it can be estimated at what level the government is working.

Dr. Poddar said that the functioning of the government should not be assessed on the basis of any one isolated incident. He said that there should be a discussion on what work the government did in the last 30 and 90 days. He also mentioned the steps taken by the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari-led government regarding law and order and said that the government has implemented many strict laws and measures including the Goonda Act. The BJP MLA claimed that “Bengal has become free from fear and is rapidly moving forward on the path of progress.” He raised questions on the opposition and said why the development and administrative changes being made by the government are not visible.
