11 miscreants who spread violence under the guise of movement arrested, had participated in the rally posing as students

Kolkata, West Bengal: On July 24, 2026, during a student rally in the Dharmatala area of central Kolkata, violence erupted and journalists were attacked. The Kolkata police have taken major action and arrested 11 accused in this case. According to the police, the investigation has revealed that all the arrested accused are not students, but anti-social elements who had entered the crowd under the guise of a student movement and hatched a conspiracy to spread unrest. It is alleged that these people carried out violent incidents during the rally and also attacked journalists on duty. The accused were identified by the investigating agencies based on CCTV footage, video recordings, and other technical evidence. After that, the police launched an operation and arrested all 11 accused from the Andal area. The police say that the investigation into the case is ongoing and it is being ascertained whether other people were also involved in the conspiracy of unrest. Further legal action is being taken based on the interrogation of the arrested accused.
