Howrah, The Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs of the Government of West Bengal, Mr. Umesh Rai, along with a delegation from Howrah Municipal Corporation, visited Indore, the cleanest city in the country, and conducted an in-depth study of its modern sanitation and solid waste management system. During the tour, the delegation observed door-to-door garbage collection, source segregation, garbage transfer stations, integrated solid waste management systems, recycle-reduce-reuse stations, India's largest bio-CNG plant (Enver Enviro), and the functioning of NEPRA Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. The delegation also gained detailed knowledge of scientific waste management, resource recycling, and modern sanitation systems. Minister of State Umesh Rai said that Indore has presented an ideal model for the entire country in the field of sanitation through public participation, modern technology, and effective administrative arrangements. He said that the experiences gained from this study will be applied according to the local needs of Howrah, so that the city's sanitation system, solid waste management, and civic facilities can be made more effective. He also said that building a clean, beautiful, and developed Howrah is one of the top priorities of the state government, and to achieve this goal, successful models from across the country will be adopted to ensure tangible results.
