Nirbhik Bangla, Shyam Das, Asansol: A protest rally was organized by the Left Front's labor organization on Sunday afternoon to protest the eviction of hawkers from the footpath in Asansol. The rally, led by labor leader Partha Mukherjee, started from Church More and ended in front of the Asansol Municipality.
After the rally, Partha Mukherjee said that if the government has a plan to beautify and modernize the city, it should be clearly announced. However, hawkers should not be evicted by running bulldozers without making arrangements for their rehabilitation.
He also alleged that the Left is opposing the 'bulldozer policy' and the plan to introduce smart meters in the state. Alongside, he appealed for maintaining harmony in the state and said that the movement to protect the livelihood and rights of the common people will continue.
