Women protest in Gogla village panchayat for not receiving money from Annapurna store

Nirbhik Bangla, Durgapur: More than a hundred women participated in a protest in front of the Gogla Gram Panchayat on Thursday afternoon, alleging that the money from the Annapurna Bhandar project had not reached their bank accounts for a long time. They claimed that despite being eligible, they had not received the project's funds in their accounts for the past two months. The protesters alleged that while many consumers in the same area had received the project's funds in their accounts, they had not received any money so far. They claimed that they had applied both online and offline, but were still being deprived of the project's benefits. The women who participated in the protest also alleged that many financially weaker women had not received the project's funds, while some members of relatively affluent families were regularly receiving the benefits. They demanded a quick resolution to the problem and the transfer of the pending funds to their accounts. The news of the protest led to increased administrative activity at the Gogla Gram Panchayat premises. However, when asked for a reaction, Shyamal Bagdi, the head of the Gogla Gram Panchayat, refused to comment. On the other hand, the state government claimed that the Annapurna Bhandar project's benefits were being provided based on the prescribed eligibility criteria. The government said that the funds would be transferred to the accounts of genuine beneficiaries in phases and that the opportunity to apply and correct information had also been increased.
