Fearless Bengali, Asansoul: A widespread sensation has been created over the allegation of brutally killing a dog in Kalyanpur Housing area under Asansoul North Police Station. There is anger and concern among the local residents after the incident. Local residents filed a written complaint at Asansol North Police Station demanding impartial investigation into the incident and strict legal action against the culprits. According to the complaint, around 2 pm on Friday, a teenager aged between 10 to 12 years was seen attacking a dog with a sharp weapon. Locals claim that the dog got seriously injured in the attack and died on the spot. As the news of the incident spread, there was excitement in the area and many residents started protesting against the incident. According to a section of the local residents, this is not only an incident of animal cruelty but also highlights a worrying trend of increasing violent tendencies in the society. They claim that if such incidents are not investigated seriously, bigger social and security problems may arise in the future. Local residents have appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident as well as take necessary legal action. At the same time, they have also raised the demand to close the so-called backside passage behind Kalyanpur Housing. Their complaint is that the route has long been associated with security concerns and various anti-social activities in the local perception. Animal lover Debraj Karmakar and many other residents wanted immediate intervention of the administration and said that it is necessary to take immediate action to maintain peace, order and security of the area and to give a strong message against animal cruelty. On the other hand, after receiving the complaint, Asansol North Police Station started investigating the incident. Police sources informed that the issues mentioned in the complaint are being investigated and necessary legal action will be taken based on the information and evidence received in the investigation. However, till now no one has been formally accused or arrested by the police regarding the incident. The allegations are being treated as complaints until the investigation is completed.
