Fearless Bengali, Jamudiya: Tension prevailed in Jamudiya Ramji Steel Pvt Ltd factory over allegations of hanging notice of factory closure without giving any information to the workers. Workers came to work on Friday morning to find a notice of closure at the factory gate. Then they joined in the protest in front of the main gate of the factory. According to the notice issued by the factory authorities, due to financial loss and market recession, the production activities of the factory will be closed from 18 June 2026. Additionally, it has been mentioned that no salary will be paid to the workers while the factory is closed. Worker Mangal Majhir's complaint is that till Thursday the factory was working normally and none of the workers were informed about the closure. Due to this sudden decision, the livelihood and future of about 45 to 50 workers of the factory are facing uncertainty. The agitating workers claimed that before closing the factory, proper procedure should have been followed as per labor law and there was a need to hold discussions with the workers. They alleged that the authorities took this decision unilaterally without any prior warning. Expressing support to the workers' movement, Dwip Banerjee, President of Jamudiya Mandal-3, said, "No industrial establishment can be closed like this without the specific rules and legal procedure. There is a need for immediate intervention of the administration and factory authorities to protect the interest of the workers." After receiving the news of the incident, Jamudiya police station reached the spot to control the situation. Till the last reports were received, the workers' protest was continuing and no response was received from the factory authorities.
