Nirbhik Bengali, Andal, 6 June: Andal GRP arrested a person on the charges of prostitution on Delhi-Ghoda Purva Express. Approximately 90 to 95 live turtles have been recovered from the accused. The incident spread panic in the railway and forest department areas. According to GRP sources, during the search of Purba Express train on Saturday, a person was seen sitting in a suspicious condition near Rani Ganj station with multiple bottles. When the GRP personnel on duty interrogated him, inconsistency in his speech was found. After examining the bottles, it was found that a large number of tortoises were inside them. The accused was simultaneously taken to Andal GRP police station at Rani Ganj station. There, through detailed investigation, about 90 to 95 turtles were recovered from the bottles. The name of the husband is Baba Nand. He is said to be a resident of Benaras in Uttar Pradesh. During initial interrogation, he told the police that while boarding the train from Ballia, a person had given him the responsibility of delivering those bottles to the hospital. But he cannot give clear information about the identity of that person. The accused was taken to Asansol court on Sunday. The forest department was also informed about the incident. Later, forest department officials came to the GRP police station and took the rescued turtles for their own protection. Investigation has started regarding the matter.
