Nirbheek Bangala, Pandaveshwar: Bharatiya Muzdur Sangand (BMS) labor organization and ICL workers started protesting in front of the colliery on Sunday morning in Pandaveshwar area Khottadihi Colliery. There was anger among the workers after the Sunday closure notice was issued by the management. It is learned that around 1,300 ECL workers work at Khottadihi Colliery. Recently, when the management announced its decision to close on Sunday, a section of workers protested against it and joined the movement. Their demand is that Sunday should be continued and the decision should be reconsidered. BMS leader Milon Ghosh alleged from the protest stage that since past the management has been trying to stop Sundays. His claim is that as a result of the compromise between some labor organizations and the management in the past, the interests of the workers have been harmed and its impact is still felt. Milon Ghosh said, "We have started the movement to protect the interests of the workers. Until the management takes a decision on Sunday, this trend will continue." He warned further that if the demands are not met, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh will take the path of bigger agitation in the coming days. An atmosphere of tension has been created in the Khottadihi Colliery area over the incident. But no response from the colliery authorities has been received yet in this regard. The concerned are keeping an eye on the next steps of the workers' movement and the position of the management.
