Instead of joining the work, the workers joined the protest by taking a stand in front of the entrance instead of the main gate of the factory. Due to this, it is said that many workers did not participate in the work and the normal production of the factory was disrupted. The protesting workers allege that the factory authorities have been depriving them of their legal rights for a long time. They claim that minimum wages are not paid as per government rules. Moreover, workers complain that they are being made to work 12 hours a day instead of 8 hours and there is a lack of adequate health and safety infrastructure. According to the workers, a week ago also an innovative protest program was carried out in front of the factory by carrying water in their hands on the same demand. At that time the factory authorities wanted seven days' time to consider the matter. But even after the stipulated time, no constructive action was taken, it is alleged. Local leader Amar Mahato, who is leading the movement, said, "Labor exploitation has been going on for a long time. Now the workers have united to claim their just rights." He further claimed that before the elections, workers were assured of being on their side. The workers are worried that if their demands are not met immediately, they will take to the path of bigger agitation in the coming days. But till now no response has been received from the factory authorities on this incident.
