Fearless Bengali, Durgapur: Disham Diwasi Gaanta is continuing the protest program for 55 days continuously for 55 days near the Bhagat Singh Sports Stadium in the city center of Durgapur. Khudiram Tudu, Minister of Advanced Class Welfare Department of the State, participated in this movement which started demanding education, land rights, rehabilitation and employment on Saturday. He spoke to the agitators and promised to solve the problem. The protesters allege that for a long time important issues like education, land lease, resettlement and employment have been neglected in tribal deprived areas. That is why this continuous protest has been started with six points of demand before the elections. Their main demands include opening of an English medium school in the Kanchisar tribal area, providing land lease to the tribals, rehabilitation of the affected families in the mining area, ensuring employment opportunities to the families who lost their land in IQ City and re-inclusion of the names left out from the SIR list. Besides, demands for overall development of the tribal society have also been raised. Coming to the protest stage, Minister Khudiram Todu said that the previous government had promised to give land lease to the tribals but it was not implemented. He said that after the BJP government came to power, he is looking at the problems with importance as a full minister. He assured that efforts will be made to solve the problems by discussing with area MLA Chandrashekhar Bandyopadhyay and Lakshman Ghorui and administrative officials. Apart from this, the minister has also assured to take arrangements regarding various problems of Kancsar Pandit Raghunath Murmu Residential School.
