Nirbhik Bangala, Asansol: More than 40 miners were seriously injured in a massive explosion in the underground mine of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). The news of death of a worker in the incident has also come to light, although till now nothing has been officially informed by the mining authorities in this matter. It is learned that on Wednesday, in the first shift, workers were working on cutting coal in section number 27. At that time a powerful air blast comes from a layer of glittering mine. Within moments of the explosion, intense air pressure was created and the workers inside the mine scattered everywhere. It is reported that several contractors are among the injured. This sudden incident spread panic among the miners. After the incident, the officials living above the miner started rescue operations. The injured workers were rescued and sent to various hospitals of ICL including Basra Area Hospital of Raniganj for treatment. The condition of many workers is critical, according to hospital sources. Questions began to arise regarding what caused this explosion and whether the safety system at the mine was proper or not. After the incident, mine workers' organizations started protesting. This accident occurred due to complaints from labor unions, negligence on the part of mining authorities and lack of proper monitoring. Investigation of the incident has started. But this incident has created an atmosphere of intense anger and panic in the workers' quarters.
