Nirbhik Bengali, Asansol: A new steering committee was formed as per the rules at Maidan Mandir, the traditional house of Banpur. This committee is reconstituted every two years and this time also the newly elected members have taken charge. Just as experienced members have been appointed to the new committee, many new faces have also been included. As a result, people concerned feel that there will be more pace in the work of temple management and development. An important decision has also been announced by the committee. The members who have been working till the age of 60 years will be formally retired very soon. However, based on their experience and physical capability, some members may be re-appointed through contract. It is learned that as per the contract or agreement signed in 2002, the currently working members will retire after completing 60 years. The next step will have to be taken following that rule. After forming the new committee, the members, while facing the journalists, said that this reorganization has been done with the aim of overall development of the temple, maintaining order and implementing future plans. He expressed hope of working for the development of the temple on a larger scale in the coming days.
