On Tuesday, a fire started from an electrical transformer adjacent to the Dabarmudh bus stand in Bhardupur and within moments it spread to the nearby temporary shops. According to local sources, around 1:45 pm, a sudden fire broke out in a fire transformer. Due to the intense pressure of the fire, the fire quickly goes out of control and engulfs the food shops of the country. The situation became more dire when the gas cylinders inside the shop started exploding one after the other. The entire area shuddered due to the intensity of the explosion. A panic begins and many pedestrians and passengers get out of or run over from the moving vehicle. The entire area is currently without electricity due to the incident. Local residents complain that for a long time, several temporary food shops had come up near the transformer, where cooking was done on gas regularly. Despite complaints of gas leakage being raised several times, no effective action was taken by the administration. It is alleged that there has been a problem of low voltage and frequent load shedding in the area for a long time. Meanwhile, this fire incident in the area near the electricity department has raised big questions regarding the monitoring of the department. Local businessmen claim that even after the fire broke out in the afternoon, effective administrative response was not seen till about 12:00. Till the last reports were received, a fire engine from Chittaranjan has rushed to the spot and Roopnaraipur police station is present at the spot. Due to power cut in extreme heat, the suffering of common people has increased to the extreme. There is no possibility of normalization of electricity service until the fire is completely controlled, said the electricity department.
