On this day, they took part in the protest by blocking the road, complaining about the poor condition of the road at the Ikra junction of the main road leading to Jamudiya Bazaar from Chakdola junction of National Highway No. 60. Complaint: Over a long period of time, large potholes have formed on many parts of the road, where water has accumulated and taken the form of pools. The situation has become more dangerous due to heavy traffic, claim the protesters.
The workers present at the protest along with NCP candidate Rhea Mukherjee raised the slogan “Ariram Singh Hatao, Jamudiya Bachao” In this regard, Rhea Mukherjee alleges that outgoing MLA and TMC candidate Hari Ram Singh is not aware of the plight of the common people as he himself does not use this road. In his words, “The condition of this road from Chakdola to Jamudiya Bazar is showing the real picture of development.”
He further claims that there has been no significant development in the last five years in the areas of roads, drinking water and employment.
On the other hand, NCP leader Akash Ghatak alleges that corruption charges have been raised against sitting MLA Hari Ram Singh and his son Prem Pal Singh several times in the last two and a half years, but no action has been taken. His claim is that while the common people are roaming on the broken roads, the leaders of the ruling party are using the National Highway.
NCP has promised that if Riya Mukherjee wins the next elections, the developmental work of the area will be completed within a year.
Meanwhile, a section of the common people are raising the same complaint - they voted in the hope of change, but in the last five years there has been no development, rather the problems of roads, drinking water and pollution have increased.
