Nirbhik Bengali, Asansol: On the occasion of Neel Shasthi, celebrated on the first day of the sacred month of Chhetra, devotees flocked to various Shiva temples in West Bengal district. Especially the crowd of devotees started in the border Laghoya Chandrachur temple from early morning. As per the customary tradition, devotees arrive at the temple from early morning to worship the blue-voiced Shiva. Many people crossed the threshold and came to the temple to fulfill their wish. From the afternoon onwards, various rituals begin – offering of sticks, tridents on the body and tongue, devotional dance and chanting of joy. In many temples, 'Jhola' Jhelanoro Varshanoro (झोला) goes on throughout the night. The faith of the devotees, under the grace of Devadeva Mahadev, there is no loss even in all these rigorous practices. Temple committee member Paultu Rai said, like every year, this time also around lakhs of devotees have gathered on the day of Neel Shasthir. The puja that starts in the morning will continue throughout the day and night, which will continue till the next morning. Volunteers have also been deployed in the temple premises to serve the devotees. The entire area centered around the festival was engulfed in a devotional atmosphere.
