Fearless Bengali Shyam Das Durgapur: New controversy in the industrial sector before the assembly elections. Allegations have arisen around DSP Employees Consumer Co-operative Society that it did not fair after lifting 16 thousand liters of kerosene oil. Allegedly, the responsible director of kerosene department, Shankar Sarkar, first procured 4000 liters through member Sushil Das and then personally signed another 12 thousand liters - approximately 16 thousand liters of kerosene from the specific dealer of the oil mine area of Uttarakhand. It has been reported that 4062 liters of oil has been lifted from ‘Gupta Automobile and Engineering Works’ of Kajodha area. This oil did not reach 10 depots in Durgapur Steel Township, it is alleged. As a result, the question arises – where did that huge amount of oil go? It is heard that allegations of profiteering by selling in the open market have also been made, although this has not been proven yet. Incidentally, the kerosene allotted to the poor people of the Durgapur Steel Plant area is supplied through this co-operative. Oil was not lifted in January due to high prices, claims new board. But in February, after the price fell, oil was picked up again, as mentioned in the charge sheet. The general editor of the co-operative said, "Oil has been collected but has not gone into the pit. After knowing about the matter, notice has been given to Director Shankar Sarkar. Why it was kept somewhere else is still under investigation." On the other hand, Shankar's government claims, "Oil was not lifted in January, hence it was lifted in February. It is being distributed step by step." The incident has also sparked political controversy. Lakshna Ghar sarcastically says, "Corruption in kerosene too. The Center is giving money and the leaders of the ruling party are looting it. People will answer." There was criticism throughout the industry regarding the incident. Demands for speedy investigation and accountability have been raised from the administration. A section of the political circle feels that this allegation has increased the ruling party's uneasiness ahead of the elections.
