Baijid Mandal, South Chhattisgarh Pargana: Sonartaree Om Man and Child Welfare Institution, a voluntary organization, has taken up several social initiatives with the aim of empowering rural backward women for their self-reliance. Under the initiative of the organization and in collaboration with Kolkata Lottery Club, a large eye test, distribution of spectacles and certificate giving ceremony to the students is organised. It has been informed by the organization that, for the last few years, they have been working continuously with the aim of making the backward women of the villages self-reliant. Through the application of organic fertilizers, 40 models of nutritional gardens and 9 models of seed farming have already been created. Besides, women are also being given training in making various types of organic fertilizers. In this day's seminar, about 230 common people are examined for their eyes and 130 people are distributed free spectacles. Apart from this, certificates of computer and tailoring training are given to college and school students. Canning Svanirbhar Editor Asis Mandal was present at the event. He also made the students aware about what to do to stay safe from lightning. General Editor of the organization, Anadi Ranjan Haldar said that his organization is working to improve the quality of life of the rural people in the remote areas including Kakdwip and Kulpi. With the aim of improving the livelihood of women, about 50 women have been provided assistance in rearing beef and poultry using advanced technology and preparing their food. He said that in the coming days, preparations are underway to conduct special programs aimed at empowering women on a larger scale. This initiative of the organization has received a huge response among the local people and the common people have expressed satisfaction.
