A severe fire broke out in the abandoned mine area in Pandaveshwar area. Local residents were horrified by the fire that broke out at Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL)'s thermal power plant on Friday night. According to local sources, miscreants set fire to dry mud on the hill of abandoned soil adjacent to the Hanuman temple in Pandaveshwar's OCP Colony. The intensity of the fire was so much that the traces of the fire slowly started coming down from the top of the mountain, as a result an atmosphere of fear was created in the area. Pandaveshwar police station immediately reached the spot after receiving the news. Civic volunteers and police personnel, risking their lives, started the initial work of extinguishing the fire by climbing up the hill in the dark of night. The fire brigade is informed. The fire was largely controlled by the police and civil volunteers. Later a fire fighting vehicle from ICL also reached the spot. The situation came under complete control after the fire continued from evening till around 10 pm. Locals heaved a sigh of relief when the fire came under control after 10 pm. But the police are watching to see how the fire started.
