Abeer of many colors including red, yellow, green, pink and purple is being prepared. The price of 50 gram and 100 gram packets is said to be Rs 15 and Rs 30 respectively. According to the entrepreneurs, about 50 thousand women of 82 villages of Bagnan-1 block are panchayeted on the path of savings and self-employment through self-reliant groups. This herbal medicine is being sold through ‘Apna Bazaar Chitra’, various fairs and with the help of member network. Keeping in view the upcoming Dhol and Holi festival, the demand is increasing, said the locals. During the spring festival season, this Aabi is being supplied to various educational institutions and social organizations. Dhol and Holi are important festivals in the socio-cultural environment of West Bengal. Buyers' interest in colors made from pharmaceutical ingredients is increasing as they are environment friendly. Entrepreneurs hope that this initiative will expand further and strengthen the financial independence of rural women.
