Fearless Bengali Shyam Das Asansol: The state government has taken a big initiative to modernize and pollution-free the public transport system of South Bengal. South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTTC) – 200 new CNG buses were virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister Mahata Bandyupa Dhaya. This program was completed virtually on Wednesday afternoon. District administrative and political officials were present at the event organized at the city center of Durgapur. Present at the event were State Law, Judicial and Labor Minister Mr. Ghatak. Also present were Pandaveshwar MLA Narendranath Chakraborty, Asansol Durgapur Development Board Chairman Kabi Dutt, SBSTCR Chairman Subhash Mandal and several administrative officials. According to Transport Department sources, this 20 ton CNG bus will run on 10 important routes of South Bengal. New services will be available on many busy routes including Jharkhand–Calcutta, Vandhman–Asansol, Belgharia–Digha, Belgharia–Taki. The state government claims that this initiative will reduce environmental pollution and ensure more comfortable and modern service for the passengers.
