Shyam Das, Nirbhik Bengali: An air ambulance going from Ranchi to Delhi crashed on Monday afternoon in the dense forest of Karmātand in Simāriya police station area of Jharkhand district. There were a total of seven people on board the plane, according to preliminary information. Mechanical fault is feared as the cause of the accident. On Monday afternoon at 1:37 pm, the plane took off from Birsa Munda Airport and took off for Delhi. Nagad was supposed to reach Delhi at 4:30 pm. But shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported a technical problem, the source said. Preliminary estimate says the plane lost control and crashed into the woods while attempting an emergency landing. The air ambulance contained one seriously ill patient, one doctor, one paramedic, two attendants, a relative of the patient and a pilot. After the accident, the local villagers informed the administration. Simaria police station, district administration and rescue team reached the spot. Dense forests and inaccessible terrain create obstacles for rescue operations. Relief and rescue operations continued till late evening. Nothing has been officially informed yet about the physical condition of the injured. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed about the incident. According to sources, a special team may be sent to investigate. A detailed investigation will be ordered to find out the real cause of the accident. The administration has appealed to the general public not to crowd the spot and not to spread rumours. An atmosphere of concern and mourning has been created across the state regarding the accident. It is said that detailed information will be released soon by the administration.
