South Chhattisgarh Police: New initiative to raise public awareness against drug abuse by Shirakol Traffic Guard. Bivekananda Kalcharal Forum extended a helping hand in this program organized in Usti area. It is noteworthy that at present, the trend of drug addiction is increasing at various levels of the society – starting from the educated and common people to the teenage community. As a result, cases of getting infected with various complex diseases at a young age are seen. In this context, the need for awareness and administrative strength is emphasized in the programme. An approximately 2 kilometer long march was organized under the leadership of Parvez Ali Mandal, Chief of Shirakole Traffic Guard and a prominent police chief. School and college students participated in it. During the march, police officers and prominent people of the society spoke about the dire effects of drug addiction. Artists of Vibekanand Kalacharal Forum actively participate in this call. Students conveyed the message of building a drug-free society through report reading, speeches and recitations. Forum editor and teacher and percussionist Panchanan Banerjee said, “Drinking is a big problem in our society. It is not possible to create a healthy and beautiful society without quitting addiction.” The prominent people of the area including Forum's cultural editor Alapan Banerjee expressed their gratitude for this initiative of the police administration. Local common people should also support this awareness program. Message of the organizers: We all take an oath to create a healthy and beautiful society free from drugs.
