Area MLA Narendranath Chakraborty inaugurated the project of providing drinking water to every household and several developmental works at a cost of about Rs 2 crore 57 lakh.
According to local sources, there was an acute shortage of drinking water in Sonpur village for a long time. The villagers repeatedly appealed to the Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) authorities, but there was no permanent solution to the problem. Later he approached the local MLA regarding the issue.
Following the initiative of MLA Narendranath Chakraborty and the funding of ICL, the inauguration ceremony of this water project was organized. From today itself, the work of delivering drinking water to every home through pipeline has started.
In this regard, the MLA said that as a result of mineral expansion by ICL, the water level has decreased in various areas adjacent to the mine and there is a drinking water crisis. Especially after the rehabilitation of Sonpur village, the villagers were suffering from water scarcity for a long time. This project was started with the aim of providing a permanent solution to that problem.
According to the villagers, once the project is completed, the long-term suffering of many families will end.State
