According to the drivers, they supply coal to many industrial areas including Jamudiya, Raniganj, Durgapur from the Benzamri colliery of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). While leaving the colliery area, even though there was no obstruction, the traffic police stopped them on the side of the road while getting on the national highway. Please note that no movement of vehicles will be allowed until the entry restriction period is over. As a result, long lines of hundreds of trucks are forming one after the other on the national highway. Not only on the Delhi-Calcutta side, the traffic movement on the Kolkata-Delhi route is also being disrupted in a similar manner, it is alleged. There are delays in product supply in industrial areas and the risk of accidents is also increasing. Drivers claim that this rule has been in effect for the last eight months. Earlier vehicles would not have been detained like this. Their further complaint is that some transport vehicles coming from other states are not falling under this ban. Note that this road is part of National Highway 19, which is known as an important connecting corridor between Delhi and Kolkata. Thousands of goods carrying vehicles use this route every day. Drivers demand that the administration should immediately look into the matter and fix clear timings and stop stopping vehicles unilaterally, so that they can get relief from this daily suffering.
