Nirbheek Bengali,Asansol: Residents of the area are protesting against the decision to close the post office of Palashbagan depot in Asansol. Since December 21, the authorities have closed that post office, angering the customers. In response to this protest, 'Palashbagan Post Office Bachao Committee' was formed. Committee member Tapas Mukherjee said, this post office has been providing services to the people of the area for about 55 years. There are more than three thousand customers here, most of whom are associated with the small savings scheme of the government post office. His complaint was that on December 20, he was suddenly informed by a notice that the post office would be closed from December 21. The complaint says that despite written notices being given to various departments in protest against this decision, no permanent solution has been found yet. It has been informed by the post office that this post office will be merged with other post offices. However, as per the demand of the local residents, it will be convenient for the common people if it is merged with the two post offices located within three kilometers from the Depotpada post office. In the current decision, senior citizens and women customers are facing special difficulties, say the claims of the agitators. Palashbagan Post Office Bachao Committee informed that they will continue their agitation in the coming days demanding reopening of the post office.
