Asansol: Tension prevailed in Saldanga area of Asansol over the allegations against a BJP leader. If the accused is not arrested immediately, people of the tribal community have been warned of a massive protest. The incident began on January 19th. Allegedly, on that day, BJP workers led by BJP leader Krishna Prasad went to the tribal school of Saldanga to distribute blankets and sarees. At that time, the tribal community alleged that Krishna Prasad insulted and ill-treated a woman of their community. After this incident, a written complaint was filed on behalf of the tribal community in the name of Asansol North Police Station, Krishna Prasad and some others and a demand was made to arrest the accused. In protest against this, two days ago people of the tribal community demonstrated in front of Asansol North Police Station and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. On the other hand, BJP workers counter protested the next day. They claim that Krishna Prasad has been booked in a false case and this allegation is politically motivated. Amidst this situation, people of the tribal community came together under the leadership of former councilor Shyam Soren, the tribal pada of Shaldanga, on Tuesday morning. From there it was clearly stated that if Krishna Prasad was not arrested immediately, he would join the larger movement. There is excitement in the area regarding the incident. Police are monitoring the situation. But till now no official response has been received from the police in this matter.
