Fearless Bengali, Shyam Das, Asansol The third picnic spot of Maithon Dam in Asansol was suddenly closed without any notice on Sunday (holiday), leaving the tourists in extreme trouble. Many tourists coming from far away places cannot enter the spot by car. They are diverted from Kalyaneshwari river. As a result, many tourists were forced to picnic on the roadside. But the Third Dyke picnic spot was completely empty—all the shops were closed. In the absence of any upcoming announcement, tourists became angry at this decision. Not only boat drivers but also local businessmen have been affected. It is learned that the picnic is closed on Sunday due to special programs and feasts being organized in the Third Dike area on the occasion of special puja of the tribal community. On this day, a large number of people gather there for this puja. The entire area is engrossed in dance, singing and various cultural programs. But as per the administration, apart from Third Dyke, there are other picnic spots - সিধাবাড়ি and ফিরিঙ্গ রেঞ্জ -খোলা. However, tourists have to take detours to reach there. This sudden decision has caused widespread dissatisfaction, especially among tourists coming from far away places. Tourists claim that such suffering could have been avoided had at least advance announcement been made.
