Nirbheek Bengali,Asansol: On Saturday morning, a protest meeting was organized against SIR under the initiative of Trinamool Congress's Legal Cell at Asansol Court. Present in that meeting were State Law and Labor Minister Mallya Ghatak, Asansol Municipal Corporation Deputy Shri Abhiji Ghatak, Council Member Gurudas Chatterjee along with lawyers from the legal cell of Trinamool Congress. Minister Mallya Ghatak made strong criticism against the central government from the meeting. He said that the BJP government at the Center is spreading confusion among the common people on the SIR issue. They claimed that there are Rohingya and Bangladeshi citizens in West Bengal, but till date the central government has not been able to prove the existence of any such citizen. The minister further said, in a democracy every citizen has the right to express personal opinion. But the BJP government is trying to take away that democratic right and is running a purposefully motivated false propaganda. He also cited the past promises of the Central Government and said, before coming to power, the BJP government had promised to provide 2 crore jobs across the country and money in the bank accounts of every citizen. But in the last 14 years none of that promise has been implemented. At present, efforts are being made to mislead the common people through SIR again, the minister alleges. He said, Trinamool Congress will continue the movement against such misleading policies in future also.
