Fearless Bengali, own representative, Chhinakudi: There was tension on Thursday over the allegation of land being cut in the name of ICL without any notice in the area adjacent to the 3rd Pit Colliery. The complaint is that when the villagers suddenly started the work of cutting the land by bringing dozers on their land, the work was stopped due to the obstruction of the land owners. Locals claim that a contractor named Sandeep Thakur, owner of a private organization, and Amodha Thakur are given the responsibility of leveling the land. Similarly, the villagers stopped the contractors from starting work with dowels. Their complaint is that work has been started on the land illegally without any discussion or written notice with ICL. According to the land owners, about 100 to 150 families have land in that area. If ICL wants to acquire land, it will first have to discuss with all the land owners and give a written notice clarifying the terms and conditions. Otherwise, it is completely illegal to start cutting the soil suddenly. The villagers further said that earlier also an attempt had been made twice to cut the soil in that area. The contractor of the service company was given 15 days time to show the necessary documents but could not show any valid document. They should clearly inform that if the work is done by following the rules and showing the documents, no one will stop them. After the incident, attempts were made to contact the ECL authorities but their phones could not be found, it is alleged. There is extreme excitement in the area around the incident.
