West Vandaman, Asansol:
A mass rally was organized in Barnpur on Tuesday to demand employment of local unemployed youth in SAIL-ISP. This march was organized from Bharti Bhawan to Tunnel Gate under the leadership of TMC Councilor of Asansol Municipal Corporation Ashok Rudra. Many unemployed young men and women participated in it.
At the end of the meeting, a meeting is held in front of the tunnel gate. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum is submitted to the authorities, in which a demand is made to first employ local youth in the modernization project.
In this regard Ashoka Rudr says,
“SAIL-ISP is being modernized, as a result of which a large number of new job opportunities have been created here. But it is seen that this central organization is hiring people from outside instead of local unemployed youth.”
He further clarified that he is not against the employment of outside youth, but first priority will have to be given to the local people. Ashok Rudra claims, “There are thousands of young men and women here, who have studied right from secondary school till PhD, MBA, MBA. But they are not being given jobs.”
He said, “The local unemployed youth will have to be given jobs as per their qualifications, then opportunities can be given to outsiders.”
While speaking today, Ashok Rudra attacked BJP MLA from Asansol South Agnimitra Pal in harsh language. His complaint was, "He is only doing gimmicky politics. He roamed around in Bali Ghats and Coal mines. Till date he or no one from his team has held even a single meeting with the Cell-ISP authorities. He did not raise the demand of providing jobs to the local unemployed first during modernization."
There was political heat around this program in Barnpur area. Local unemployed youth said that if their demands are not met, they will go for a bigger movement.Asansol
