Ahead of the upcoming Durgotsav, the administration has taken a special initiative to keep the communication system in the industrial area smooth and safe, and to ensure hassle-free travel for the general public. To this end, a high-level special meeting was held on Monday at the Jamuria police station under the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate. Long discussions were held on two very important issues during the meeting—first, the swift and durable repair of the dilapidated and damaged roads in the Jamuria industrial area before the Pujas, and second, the imposition of a temporary ban on the movement of heavy industrial vehicles to manage the crowd of common people during the festive days.
In the presence of high-ranking officials from various factories in the Jamuria industrial belt and prominent members of the Jamuria Chamber of Commerce, the meeting proved to be very fruitful. It has long been a demand of the local residents that due to the poor condition of the roads in the industrial area, accidents frequently occur, and common people suffer immensely during Puja shopping and pandal hopping. In this context, the administration has clearly instructed the factory authorities to quickly fill the potholes on the main roads and make them fit for movement before the festive days arrive.
Simultaneously, a major decision has been taken in the interest of controlling traffic congestion and ensuring the safety of pedestrians during the Puja days. According to the decision, the movement of heavy industrial vehicles will be completely prohibited from Ranisayer to Jadudanga via Bijpur and on related routes. As a result, common people and visitors will be able to roam around comfortably near the Puja pandals. Meanwhile, as heavy vehicle movement will remain suspended, a strong appeal has been made by locals to use the Chakdola and Bahadurpur road as an alternative, so that the transportation of goods in the industrial area is not disrupted and traffic movement remains normal through the alternate route.
Traffic ACP Jayanta Bag, Traffic Inspector Rana Ambika Dutta, Traffic OC Sukanta Das, and Jamuria Police Station OC Soumendranath Thakur were present at this important meeting. Additionally, responsible officials from various factories and esteemed members of the Jamuria Chamber of Commerce participated in the meeting and assured full cooperation with the administration's steps. The general people of the industrial area have expressed relief at this timely step by the police administration, and it is expected that traffic jams and accidents will be largely avoided during the Pujas this time.
