Nirbhik Bengali,Basirhat: To provide health services to the marginalized and backward people of Basirhat city, a free mega health camp and blood donation festival was organized. This training is organized in the surrounding grounds of Dairirhat Ramakrishna Mission under the initiative of Dr. Shraddha Banerjee, a renowned physician of Basirhat and under the management of the Temple Conservation Society, Basirhat. Many people of the area started gathering at the school since morning. Experienced doctors of orthopedics, ophthalmology and general medicine departments examine the health of the patients. There was also provision for free blood pressure, sugar testing and ECG services. As per the advice of doctors, necessary medicines are given to the patients free of cost. Dr. Shoudhary Banerjee, who was present at the seminar, said, "Many people in the society still do not get the opportunity of regular treatment. Due to financial limitations, many hide the disease or come for treatment late, as a result the problem becomes more complicated. Through such training, it is possible to provide at least first aid and proper advice. If necessary, patients are referred to bigger hospitals." He further said that the main aim of this initiative is to stand by the people and efforts will be made to organize such programs regularly in the future. Local residents thanked this initiative. According to them, getting examination by doctors from multiple departments at one place and getting free medicines is a matter of great relief. Many people suffering from chronic eye problems, bone pain or general physical ailments have benefited from coming to this camp. According to the organizers, the main objective of this program is to provide health services to the marginalized people of the society.
