Asansol, West Bengal In a press conference held at the Trinamool Congress office in Asansol, Trinamool leader and Borough Chairman of Asansol Municipal Corporation Debasis Sarkar fiercely targeted the BJP government at the Centre. He claimed that many beneficial schemes run by the Central Government in the last 12 years have proved to be a complete failure. The Debasis government said that during this period the rights of the general public were violated and injustice was also done to the people of Bengal. Referring to several schemes including demonetization, Make in India, Swachh Bharat Mission, cleaning of rivers, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, inflation reduction scheme, bullet train project and housing scheme, he alleged that their expected benefits did not reach the public. He also cornered the Central Government on the issue of inflation and said that today the price of petrol in the country has crossed Rs 100 and the prices of everyday items are continuously increasing. He claimed that demonetisation did not provide much benefit to the common people and no clear answer was given regarding its purpose. The Trinamool leader said that the promise of increasing the income of farmers has also not been fulfilled. He also termed Pollution Free India, One Nation One Pension, One Nation One Tax (GST), 100 Smart Cities and other schemes as failures. Giving the example of pollution situation in Delhi, he said that it is clear that even the schemes related to environment have not been successful. The Debasis government also raised questions on the policies of the central government by mentioning issues like question paper leak. He said that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor other BJP leaders or ministers are giving clear answers regarding the failure of these schemes.
