Complaint: The administration did not make minimum travel or accommodation arrangements for the students coming from far away places. Many were forced to spend the night under the open sky. Allegations have been raised that even basic services like toilet and drinking water were lacking in the test centre. A senior leader of the tribal community expressed his anger and said, “Although our culture is highlighted during festivals, we are repeatedly neglected in important matters like education and employment.” According to the representatives, the problem is not limited to just one exam. Difficulty in getting caste certificate, misuse of fake certificate, lack of adequate education in Hindi medium and Hindi script and teacher crisis – all these are long standing problems. Besides, there are allegations of obstruction in reaching the government project facilities at grass root level. According to political analysts, this incident could be a warning message for the ruling Shishar, who runs various programs giving importance to the tribal vote bank of Jungle Mahal and North Bengal. The opposition has already started attacking the government on this issue. On the other hand, it has been informed by the government that the complaints are being looked into and if any negligence is proven, appropriate action will be taken. But the tribal community is not satisfied with this assurance right now. His clear message – If you do not get fair rights and respect, you can take the path of greater movement in the future.
